This exotic artist name, BernswanA, comes from friends in my youth. They gave me this nickname, because I was highly interrested in buddhism. My real name is Bernie Maisberger, and so they made a combination of Bern(ie)´s (Nir)wana. It means “Bernie´s world” This funny name reminds me of very good old friends, so that is the reason for my artist name!
I´m definitely rooted in the bavarian traditional folk music. Thanks to my parents we always made music in my family. I played guitar in various folk bands and was singing in a duo with my sister Martina as "Geschwister Maisberger" at numerous folk gatherings and also on airplays and on TV.

I established my first rock band at the age of about 13, focusing on the English, and heavy rock. Initiating several bands, I was playing a lot of shows at open-airs and festivals until the day when real life caught me with the reality of having a family. At the end of a creative sabbatical I joined the heavy/rock band "Fuse".
Two years later I founded my own band "BernswanA". We produced a CD together and played quite a few shows and festivals. During that phase I turned back to the Bavarian speech. After we discontinued the band I was on the road with the same name as songwriter playing at festivals, on open airs and performing in various clubs.

IRXN
Today I am playing with my good friend and fellow musician, Helmuth Tremmel, under the name “Foitnrock” (Bavarian name for kilt) in good old songwriter tradition.
I am also the lead singer of the celtic Bavarian hardfolk band "IRXN", where I´ve found a new home. I´m looking forward to many new songs and shows with "IRXN".

My new album “Under trees” has 12 songs, written in English. They are old songs that I made between 1986 and 2006 in several music styles with many different musicians; for exampel Rüdiger Helbig, a Banjo player also famous in the USA. You can purchase the album at:
